Just another "little" project I'm working on until I get another job to support my Plague Tower project. My Nurgle Land Barge (or as my father called it "the station wagon"). Until about a week ago, this thing still had the original sponson rigs on it, but with bitz-bashed dual heavy flamers instead of las-cannons (I didn't much care for either really). It also had two platforms on the front extended out over the tracks, and though it could be driven by Chaos, I had previously replaced the engine on the back with a large Basilisk-like platform. I came to realize that last part was a big mistake, but with the old engine already mounted on my Inquisitorial Chimera, I needed an alternative. I ended up extending the rear end with plasticard and a Chimera exit hatch which had actually been on the Land Raider before re-reconstruction as a passage to the rear platform. While looking through ForgeWorld products, I took a liking to their Pre-Heresy Land Raider Kit, but having bad luck with previous kits and now having only need for the sponsons, I built my own with more plasticard(each equipped w/ a single multimelta). The face on this is about two years old (yes, that's a battle cannon), so it needs some serious fixing up, as well as some of the "infested" areas.I really like how my missile launcher is turning out, unique. I promise the spiky growths will look better once I get some more putty.

Games Workshop here at the mall is having a fifty point mega battle this Saturday. The manager said that it's basically good vs. evil and once your unit is taken out, it comes back into play at the board's edge next turn. Basically keep playing as long as you like, even try out different units as you go. I hope to have several Nurgle units to choose from; two big mutants, five traitor guard with one heavy bolter, and a rhino. I still have a lot of painting to do before then, but now that I've found myself without job, I have time to spare.
So, if you happen to be in Ventura this Saturday, you may just find me showing off some of my Nurgle creations. I'll be the one in the hat.

So, the guys at Games Workshop made me come in Thursday evening for their dreadnought bash. To their surprise, I brought in five dreadnoughts of varied degrees of completion to show off. And though I had a game legal (though scrap-built) Dark Angels Dreadnought, they said I should use my more visually impressive Nurglenought (the one I use for my LJ icon). they used simplified rules to make the game go faster, which was good considering I really don't know how to play anymore. It's was a lot of fun, and as it turned out... I was last man standing. As a prize, I chose an acolyte W/ cheryb (it's late, can't spell) blister. Which brings me to my next subject...
I'm starting a Witch Hunters army, leaning toward puritan, spent around $400 on it already this week (well, I will have once I get that immolator in the morning). I decided I'm going to start playing, and needed an army worthy of pitting against my Nurgle traitor guard. I figure it's an army that looks so good already that I'm not going to have to spend much time converting the figures (except the damn CCWs off of the penitent engines, I'm giving them hammers!), which also means I'll still have plenty of time to work on my Plague Tower.

Well, with only about an hour and a half of sleep last night because I was finishing my Golden Demon entry, I'm on my way to GamesDay. My entry is a traitor guard rough rider. Instead of mounting him on a horse, I went with a giant rat heavily converted from a Krootox. While painting the rat, I was able to used my old flesh wash, which had separated and settle over time, making it perfect for rusting up some armor. Unfortunately, I dropped the bottle of said wash, thus mixing it once again. So when it came time to paint the riders armor, I just couldn't get it to look right. Honestly, it looks like crap, but just entering the rat alone was not an option, nor was not entering. I am quite pleased with the last minute base I made for it though. Carved some insulation foam, painted it up a bit like warpstone. Well, gotta go.

I just realized that I only have two weeks until Games Day and I haven't got any more than a primer coat on my traitor guard lieutenant, and still not a clue as to what to do for a base. I figure I've only got three nights off between now and then. But hey, at least I'll have practice for the speed painting competition. Fuck me.

Received the third installment of parts direct from Games workshop. So, including the auctions I've won recently, the total spent on my tower so far is just about $1000. I'm still not sure I can justify spending $104 on the wheels alone. After I get my paycheck next Friday I plan on buying a new camera (seeing as how my digital Kodak met an unfortunate end one morning at a rainy Rose Bowl swap meet), so I can start taking progress pics.

I have a few samples up on geocities right now of some as-of-yet unfinished projects I was working on a while back. I haven't updated my site in months due to work and such, so they've all been put on the back-burner until after at least GamesDay. But you can still take a look, if so inclined. My Nurgle Mutant Ranks. You can also find pics of my Plague-nought in one of the other galleries.

It's official. With all the kits and bitz I've been buying to start off my plague tower and further corrupt my existing army, I now have enough minis to make quite a skaven army. Several dozen "regular" type warriors/ hq/ large rat bases (leftovers from a flea market purchase a few years back), half a dozen rat ogres (for creating Lost and the Damned large mutants), lightning cannon, doomwheel parts, globadiers, I've even got some Krootox-sized rats in the works for my chaos lord. Heh, let's not forget the multiple screaming bells I'll be needing for the tower and contagions. Heh, I've got rats on the brain, gnawing right to the bone. All these skaven, I feel so dirty. It may seem impossible, but I think I now have more rats than greenskins.

The Power of Nugles compels me...

I've been searching though the new 2004-2005 Games Workshop Catalog Lately. Three days and six sheets of paper later, I've come up with a master list of sorts. You see, I've got this idea in my head, and it won't let me forget about it. I have to make a Plague Tower of Nurgle, but for 40k scale gaming. I tell you now that it will be next year's(2005) Golden Demon winning model at LA GamesDay. I ordered the first page of parts today, it only came out to $192.25. Each page of parts is more expensive than the one before it. The last page, being all boxed sets that I'm going to try to get off Ebay, is $643. Altogether it's somewhere around $1800 if I were to buy it all at full price. With all the extra bitz I'll have when I'm done, I hope to make a Contagion to go along with it.

Fellow diseased ones,

I am Domestic_Wolf, overlord, er... I mean overseer of Nurgles_bitzbox. I'd just like to welcome you all. I created this community as a way of sharing ideas on converting Nurgle models, but general Nurgle-related discussions are more than welcome. At the moment, I do not play Warhammer or 40k, but I have been converting miniatures regularly for many years. I am looking to get back into the gaming aspect soon, now that there is a Games Workshop store here in Ventura.
